Academic UIL
Sixth-eighth graders may participate in academic UIL events representing areas of study such as math, science, history, reading, music, art appreciation, and other subjects. Regional meets are part of the University Interscholastic League program, which prepares students for state-wide competition in their high-school years. North Lamar has had state winners in the past, and several students have earned academic scholarships based on their contest results. Stone UIL sponsors typically meet with their student participants before or after school for several weeks prior to competition. Academic meets vary from year to year, but are usually held in late fall.
